A catastrophic show of ineptitude mixed with a lack of care cost Tottenham a spot in the Europa League after coughing up a two-goal first leg lead.

The worst possible outcome, which most only thought could occur in nightmares, saw Tottenham fold on a horrendous night in the Croatian capital. The 3-2 aggregate loss will go down as one of the most infamous in Tottenham history.

It was reminiscent of the three-goal lead Tottenham blew at West Ham earlier in the season. Both matches sum up perfectly Spurs’ current campaign.

The unnerving fixture was full of pensive, listless and risk averse performances. Harry Kane had the away side’s only shot on target in the first 71 minutes, a stat that truly depicts the abject, lacklustre display.

Here’s Tottenham’s player ratings from a dismal night in Europe. You shouldn’t be surprised by the ratings.
