Tottenham Hotspur had everything set up for them coming into the day with enough of the right teams dropping points to pick up ground. However, instead of coming out with conviction and confidence, Tottenham Hotspur came out passive and prodding in a very disappointing north Lond derby performance. Tottenham ended the match with 10 men’s and more questions than answers following a teamwide poor performance.

Tottenham had a Moment of Magic

Tottenham Hotspur was really never on the front foot against Arsenal from the off yet found themselves in the lead as the game crept toward halftime. Gareth Bale – on one of his few real impacts on the day – played the ball long across the pitch to Sergio Reguilón. The Spaniard did not waste his opportunity and played a first-time ball into the middle of the box.

Lucas Moura – the one Hostpur who played hard for 90 minutes – collected the ball and played a touch over to Erik Lamela. Lamela was only on because Heung-Min Son had gone off injured within the first 20 minutes of the match. The ball was kind of in no man’s land for Lamela, who we all know prefers his left foot.

It was at this moment that we could see just how sublime Erik Lamela can be, as he hit a ridiculously well-struck rabona into the bottom right corner. The reaction of both Lamela and Reguilón really captured the majesty of the moment. It was Lamela’s second rabona goal – having scored one in 2014 in Europa League, so this was no fluke, it was just pure magic.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, there was not a whole of magic or joy outside of that incredible goal as Lamela finished in the showers after getting a second yellow and another predictable penalty kick – cost Spurs all three points on a terrible day, as seen in our ratings.
