Rotation Central to Tottenham Projected XI for Dinamo Zagreb
By Aaron Coe
Tottenham Starting Attack
We have Harry Kane projected to lead the line and with him are some familiar names who have recently started to find some form and another player still seeking that form. With the wealth of attacking riches at his disposal, Mourinho can rotate across much of the front line as Tottenham look to score early and take command in the affair.
Steven Bergwijn – Left Wing
Steven Bergwijn has yet to hit the heights or quite live up to the expectations that came with his big goal against Manchester City to start his Tottenham career. That said, Bergwijn can bring something to Tottenham that they are lacking at times with his raw pace and power. Bergwijn has seen limited action over the last few weeks as Erik Lamela, Dele Allie, and Gareth Bale have all come back to some form of health. Unless he starts performing soon, with Giovani Lo Celso set to return, Bergwijn could be left out not left-wing moving forward.
Harry Kane – Striker
The Dinamo Zagreb team gets to measure themselves against the best and in the end, they are likely to be found lacking. That is no slight on the Croatian frontrunners, just the reality of facing Harry Kane. Coming off the two goals and two assist performance in the Premier League Kane is looking to do damage however he can, the sign of a world-class footballer.
Erik Lamela – Right Wing
Erik Lamela would probably prefer to be playing the number 10 role, but Dele Alli has that honor in our XI. As it is Lamela is going to try and do much of what we have been seeing lately from Gareth Bale, which is connect and interplay with the right back and then cut inside to create issues for the opposition. Lamela had the nice hockey assist on the weekend with a sweet chip to Heung-Min Son. Lamela looks hungry and healthy, which is good.
Dele Alli – Second Striker
Maybe you want to call him the attacking midfielder but much of what we have seen from Dele Alli or Lucas Moura over the last few weeks has been them playing a second striker as Harry Kane has claimed control of a false nine role. As Kane drops, Dele and Moura are able to overlap and attack the goal. Dele is basically back where he thrives, which is playing off those around him and finding those pockets. Expect another big night, particularly with some time on the pitch with Kane.
