Tottenham Hosting Crystal Palace, Premier League Preview
By Aaron Coe
What to Expect
Goals, expect some goals. Crystal Palace – particularly on the road – play an open style of football that can lead to some up-and-down play and lots of opportunities. This season, Palace away matches have averaged 2.85 goals per contest. So despite consecutive shutouts at home in draws against Fulham and Manchester United, do not be expecting a third straight clean sheet for the Eagles.
Crystal Palace has conceded 43 goals in 27 matches, with 22 coming on the road in just 13 games. With just 15 goals scored in those 13 matches, a -7 goal differential is nothing to brag about, but Palace is quite capable of scoring. As we know Tottenham is prone to errors both inside and outside the box, which likely will give Palace enough chances to keep Lloris and company from the clean sheet.
That said, Tottenham seems to be getting some things together offensively and really should be able to hurt Palace defensively. While Palace played Wednesday compared to Spurs Thursday, Tottenham should still have some younger legs to run at Dann and Cahill giving the Eagles far more than they can handle.
As always Tottenham needs to get out of the blocks early, which if they can do they should be able to run away with this one. Sure Palace is on a little bit of a run, but they are too consistently inconsistent to take three points at Spurs, Tottenham win and win big 5-1.
