Crystal Palace travels to north London Sunday evening to take on Tottenham Hotspur in a match seemingly more important to Spurs than the Eagles. Both Tottenham and Crystal Palace seem comfortably above relegation with Palace 11 points north of 18th placed Fulham. Spurs are a further eight points ahead of Palace. With Palace comfortably midtable and Spurs looking to still reach the top four, Spurs seemingly need the points more but that means little in professional football. So what can we expect when Spurs host Palace?

Crystal Palace Like Tottenham are Unpredictable

This season has been quite maddening for a lot of fans for a lot of reasons. Few teams have really found true consistency during this Covid impacted campaign, and this is especially true for both Crystal Palace and Tottenham. Both London teams have been consistently inconsistent this season.

Regardless of the result – a win, loss, or draw – Crystal Palace has not had three consecutive matches with the same outcome all season long. After consecutive draws, odds should be against an even outcome. Palace starting the season by winning two straight then lost two in a row and has been on a see-saw ride ever since. Good stretches like beating West Brom by four goals and drawing both Tottenham and West Ham are then followed with stinkers like the 0-7 drubbing they took at the hands of Liverpool.

Palace beats Wolves and Newcastle then loses to Leeds and Burnley getting shut out twice. All this said Palace is now on their third, three-game unbeaten run. All three streaks have included 1 win and two draws. Each of the two previous runs was followed up by hammerings to Liverpool and Manchester City by a combined 11 goals to nil. Does this mean Spurs will stomp all over Palace? Not likely, Tottenham has been just as inconsistent as we know. Beyond two unpredictable sides which may produce all or nothing, what can we expect in the match?
