It might be starting, it might be as a substitute but the one thing we know about Gareth Bale is he should be in the Tottenham team on Thursday to face Fulham. José Mourinho made it clear at his pre-match press conference that Bale was recovering well and fit to play, but may or may not start.

Bale is Available for Tottenham

“We have to decide” was the real takeaway from Mourinho’s presser. He said, “start the game, being on the bench, I don’t know”  but that Bale’s recovery was going well and he should be able to play. This is good news for Spurs fans as well as Wales who has to be watching their talisman’s progress with bated breath.

Argentine still out for Spurs

The one injury issue that seems to still be continuing is that of Giovani Lo Celso. Lo Celso went out early in the new year and has not been seen for about two months. While the Argentine playmaker has returned to practice, he seems to still be a ways away from featuring for the club.

According to Mourinho, it is likely “one more week, two more weeks” with Lo Celso. The key according to the boss is not taking any risks with Giovani and given he is the only real injury concern at the moment Spurs can be cautious in bringing him back for the stretch run.

What Does Dele Do?

The one person who maybe can benefit from Giovani Lo Celso’s continued injury problems is Dele Alli. Given Fulham come midweek and Dele has been starting the midweek matches, this could finally be the 24-year-old attacker’s first League start since the opening match of the season against Everton.

Dele was injured during some of Lo Celso’ early injury so he was not an option to replace the Argentine. Since returning to health, Dele has been battling Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura for minutes in the center attacking midfield role for Tottenham.

Knowing Lo Celso is going to be returning soon, the opportunities to impress are going to be disappearing and someone from the rotation will as well. If Dele is to be a fixture to finish the season, he has to take his chances and it starts on Thursday, presuming he plays.
