Tottenham will answer the call and come up with a statement-making performance as Burnley invade London this afternoon.

It’s been a while since Spurs comprehensively dominated a Premier League side. You’ll have to revert back to Spurs’ 3-0 win over Leeds in the first game after the turn of the year to find their last dominant victory.

I’m going out on a limb here, but I fully expect Tottenham to exorcise a few of their demons against Burnley, who sit in 15th spot, six points off the drop zone. Goals have dried up as of late, with Tottenham scoring just four in their last six, two of which came against the Baggies, a side destined to make the drop.

But this afternoon is a new day, offering Spurs a fresh lease on life. Expect Gareth Bale to enjoy his best Premier League outing of the campaign. He’s gaining confidence and fitness with every match, so expect him to let loose against the Clarets. Either he or Son Heung-Min, maybe both, will get on the scoresheet in this one.

The South Korean and Welshman are fomenting an understanding with each other on the pitch, with both players enjoying their newfound chemistry. Tottenham loved the taste of dominating Wolfsberger so comprehensively and will want to extend that winning feeling.

Burnley are currently clear of the relegation spots but will be desperate to keep it that way. However, Tottenham’s position is palpably more desperate, so expect the home side to come out with something to prove. Anything else would be bitterly disappointing.

I see Spurs winning this match 3-1, on a goal from Gareth and a brace from Son. Of course this entire prediction is predicated on Gareth securing a starting spot, which you hope Jose is on board with.
