Having taken care of business and been drawn against Dinamo Zagreb in the Round of 16 in the Europa League Tottenham Hotspur can properly shift their focus to the Premier League. Beginning Sunday vs Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur play three Premier League games over eight days with an opportunity to get their Premier League campaign righted.

No One Problem at Tottenham

What is probably most difficult about Tottenham’s slide in the league over the last now three months is that there is no one problem. Spurs have had several players out but it has not been specifically about Harry Kane’s absence or Giovanni Lo Celso’s absence or the lack of availability of Gareth Bale or Dele Alli.

Rather a combination of all those players, along with Erik Lamela picking up knocks has thrown the offense off its kilter. Likewise defensively, it has not been so much Serge Aurier or Sergio Reguilón being out, as it has been individual and collective mistakes that have hurt Tottenham.

Regardless of the causes to the problems, with almost every player now available – Lo Celso should appear over the next eight days along with Aurier – whether or not it is the coach, the players or something else should become clear. Further with three games in eight days against teams in the bottom half of the table, Tottenham have a chance to get the season straight.

Tottenham Hotspur have three winnable but not walkover games coming

Tottenham do face three teams in the bottom half of the table over the next eight days. Fulham – who Spurs play Wednesday – is square in the relegation battle and would go down if the season ended today, three points out of 17th place.

Burnley, coming to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday is in 15th six points above Fulham. Depending on how the Clarets perform and those behind them, they may or may not be in the relegation battle.

The final of the three matches is against Crystal Palace, so a London Derby a week from Sunday. On 32 points the Eagles are just four behind Tottenham, although Spurs do have a game in hand. Despite being a derby it is a match Tottenham should and very much need to win.
