Speculation continues to circulate about Jose Mourinho’s future at Tottenham, so when is the right time for the club to part ways with their manager?

There isn’t one single answer for this incredibly high stakes game. The significance of sacking a manager, especially one of Jose Mourinho’s experience and credence, cannot be overstated. With Tottenham’s recent free fall, it’s a question that, in many ways like the ball in Jose’s system of containment, will be bouncing around in Daniel Levy’s mind.

The Mirror this morning published a story focussing on the absence of a break clause in Jose’s current contract, meaning it will cost Spurs an arm and a leg to sack the Special One.

It’s a common clause for a manager of Jose’s stature. But that doesn’t make it any easier to accept, especially when things go haywire and start to unravel on the pitch.

While the exact amount of Jose’s payout remains undisclosed, one would think it’a a prohibitive fee. Sacking a struggling manager shouldn’t depend on the cost to get rid of him, but there’s no doubt that piece of the puzzle contributes to his eventual decision.
