The prospect of Dele Alli getting another chance in Tottenham’s starting 11 is becoming more realistic with recent happenings at the club.

Spurs face an extremely congested schedule in the coming weeks, even more so if they advance in the FA Cup and Europa League. Tanguy Ndombele acquitted himself well patrolling a deeper midfield role against West Brom, and will probably settle into that role permanently, another factor supporting Dele’s reintroduction to the first team.

At some point it’s bound to happen. The shunned Englishman, who had his heart set on reuniting with Mauricio Pochettino at PSG, was denied his loan request, further exasperating his desperate plight in North London.

Mourinho, instrumental in the club’s refusal to authorize the loan deal, is now stuck with the ostracized midfielder. So, for the betterment of the club, it makes sense for the disconnected duo to reconcile their differences, if only until the end of the season.

Dele needs match time as desperately as Brits need a beach holiday. And Jose needs a creative offensive threat in equal measure. With a surge in confidence and a semblance of freedom, maybe, just maybe, Dele can once again be instrumental in on-field proceedings.

His current level of desperation should be enough of a motivating factor. It would be short-sighted for Jose not to give him one last opportunity to thrive at the top level.

With Ndombele otherwise situated, Dele is, when in top form, still the best fit for the No. 10 role. But can he regain the prolific form unseen in almost two years. We won’t know until the gaffer swallows his pride and gives the 24-year-old a chance at redemption.

Most of us are acutely aware of Dele’s recent lack of desire and commitment. But everybody deserves a second chance, especially for someone with so much to gain. Dele has almost fully recovered from a niggling injury keeping him out of contention. Hopefully, upon return, he has the will and desire to stake his claim on a first team spot, thereby proving wrong those who say his career at Tottenham is finished.

Next. Spurs defensive numbers tell contradictory tale. dark

Because we all love a redemption story, particularly when the main character is somebody so adored by Tottenham’s faithful. Even those who feel his time at Tottenham is done would agree.
