On Sunday afternoon Tottenham Hotspur will face off against West Bromwich Albion at home in London with everything on the line. Despite lots of teams struggling to maintain winning streaks around them leaving Spurs conceivably in the top four hunt, a fourth straight loss would be devastating to this club. With the Premier League season hanging in the balance here are what we can expect and look forward to in the game.

Recent Form

One of the difficult things for Tottenham fans to come to grips with is the teams up and down form. Although Spurs are still somehow in the top half, they are facing a team staring relegation in the face that yet has as many wins in all competitions as them in the last five matches – one. Both the Baggies and Spurs have struggled of late, with a combined six losses in the last 10 games for the teams.

You have to go back to a sixth game to find a second win for Tottenham at this point. It was actually that long ago that Spurs beat Sheffield United and then you thrown in the win over Wycombe in the FA cup and outside of that Spurs have struggled mightily. A draw with Fulham is nothing to be proud of and it is one thing that both these teams shared. Spurs have lost three on the bounce to Liverpool (1-3), Brighton (1-0), and Chelsea (0-1). The last two in particular really hurt and displayed the abject offense and fragile defense Spurs have demonstrated of late perfectly.

Since we went back six matches – to get to that second win – for Spurs, we have done the same for West Brom and the Baggies, but that only produces more pain with a FA Cup loss on penalties to Blackpool after a 2-2 match. That win was a big one as West Brom went on the road and beat Wolves 2-3. However, consecutive losses at the Hammers (2-1) and then a bad home loss to Manchester City (0-5) took away any momentum the Baggies seemed to have captured. Most recently West Brom drew at home Fulham (2-2) and lost to United at Old Trafford (2-1).
