While it’s still too early for Tottenham to rely on Tanguy Ndombele as a consistent goal-scoring threat, the thought of him contributing would help lessen the load on Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

After seeing him score what should eventually turn out to be the goal of the season, it’s hard not to get too far ahead of ourselves.

That goal was astonishing. A touch of ingenious craft few would attempt, let alone pull off, Ndombele, in one swift, calculated flick of the boot, showed an exquisite goal-scoring touch.

That goal was Ndombele’s third in 16 appearances so far this season. While you wouldn’t write home about that goal return, the Frenchman shows tangible signs of becoming a high-scoring attacking central midfielder. He’s lightning quick, built like a tank and has arguably the best ball control in tight spaces in the top flight.

All of those factors should contribute to an increased goal return from the Frenchman. Spurs faithful shouldn’t to put too much pressure on Tanguy to score more, but his recent performances are certainly lifting expectations.

If that prospect does turn into reality, Kane and Son will be the main benefactors. It will not only take pressure off the dynamic duo, who have scored 24 of Spurs’ 33 goals, but would allow Kane and Son more time and space to perform their magic.

Next. We will see more of Joe Rodon. dark

Forced into committing more defensive resources to defending Ndombele, opposing teams will have yet another Tottenham attacking threat to combat. That outcome is precisely what Jose Mourinho desires most. The gaffer hopes that Ndombele will replace Dele Alli as one third of the magnificent triumvirate.

If Ndombele starts scoring like Dele did a few seasons ago, Jose will be over the moon with joy. So too would everyone else associated with Tottenham Hotspur.
