Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings from Draw at Wolves

Tottenham Attacking Player Ratings
Tottenham got a goal early but were unable to mount much after that. Some of the problem was poor play on the part of Tottenham and some of it was the defense and aggressive approach of Wolves. Rather than allow Tottenham to collect the ball with a target man and then attempt to play counter attacking football, Spurs were hacked down again and again as Kane and Ndombele drew 11 fouls but only one in a shooting position.
Heung-Min Son – 5.5
It was another uneventful evening for the South Korean talisman as Heung-Min Son was starved for service. Son played 14 more minutes than Ndombele but only had 1 more touch on the night. Most of these touches were with his back to goal, as opposed to with Son facing the goal on the attack. After collecting a long ball and almost scoring in the first 20 seconds to earn the corner that led to the goal, saw few long balls the rest of the game. Was not even flagged for offside, such was the lack of opportunity for Son.
Harry Kane – 6.5
Harry Kane worked hard on Sunday and tried a bit of everything, the real problem was he never had even a second on the ball to work. While Kane was fifth on the team in touches, not one of those touches came without a defender in his face or on his back. Kane was fouled five times, most of which were in the middle of the park as Wolves looked to stop Kane from distributing the ball. This worked as Kane was probably fouled 10 times, he just did not always get the call as he was smothered by the defense. This is where the lack of a longball really hurt Tottenham as the defense only had to play the short balls in to feet.
Tanguy Ndombele – 7.5
Tanguy Ndombele was the best of a sorry lot on the day as he had a couple of exciting dribbling runs and scored Spurs only goal. Like Kane, Tanguy was the recipient of several fouls, getting hacked down six times officially, although several of the times he lost the ball, we know the whistle probably should have been blown. Forced to play under too much pressure like Harry Kane, Spurs must find a way to get Ndombele the ball in a little space versus him having to fight for space.
