Spurs Ratings – The Forwards

Gareth Bale – 7

Gareth Bale had a strange first half, but ultimately a productive one. Still struggling with his first touch, Bale lost the ball on more than one occasion because his hold on a pass was just too far away. Again, tried to use some burst to make a move, but had the ball nicked away instead. Showed that he does not need his pace to be a difference maker with a nice header for Spurs first. Apparently asked to come off at the half with an issue. May or may not have been related to being kicked in the sole of the foot in the 4th minute of the match. Hopefully not something long term as Bale was just really getting fully match fit.

Harry Kane – 7.5

Harry Kane had a nice evening managing four shots and scoring the third goal to put the game to bed for Spurs. Kane spent a much larger portion of the match playing striker than he has for much of the season as he did not drop deep nearly as much. On a different night might have had a couple assists as he fed Dele for one good chance and missed connecting with his old foil on a couple other balls. If Dele continues to get minutes, you can see he and Kane still have a connection.

Lucas Moura – 6.5

There really is nothing about the game on Wednesday from Lucas Moura that stood out beyond being another player without his best touch on the evening. Fortunately, Moura’s lack of touch had little impact as he had the fewest touches of any starter not named Hugo Lloris. Bale had 1 more touch on the night than Moura and he played 20 few minutes, such was the quiet nature of Lucas’ evening. Did have a tackle and a couple fouls, but not much else.
