Juan Foyth was finally back in action for Villareal and Ryan Sessegnon had a major moment for Hoffenheim, which are two of the stories for Tottenham loanees.

The young Tottenham talent out on loan had a busy weekend as all four healthy senior players on loan got minutes on Saturday at their respective clubs. Ryan Sessegnon and Oliver Skipp both again went 90, while Troy Parrott came on as a substitute and Juan Foyth played for the first time in more than two weeks. So how did the young men do on Saturday?

Foyth Starts for Villareal

Juan Foyth made only his second La Liga appearance this season for Villareal on Saturday at Osasuna in a 1-3 victory. Foyth previously played four minutes at the end of the matchday two draw with Cadiz back in October. This match marked Foyth’s first La Liga start for Villareal and he did so as the main central midfielder in a three-man midfield as part of a 4-3-3 formation.

Foyth stayed mostly near midfield in his 45 minutes and was okay for Villareal winning three headers and completing 80% of his 20 passes. Foyth was not nearly as active on or off the ball as his two fellow midfielder Daniel Parejo and Manu Trigueros who had 183 combined passed, but also both played twice as much as Foyth.

Juan coming off at half-time was not necessarily all about his play – although it could have been as he was dispossessed twice. More likely, however, it had to do with Foyth having played 78 minutes just three days earlier in the Copa Del Rey as one of the two center backs for Villareal. With another game in just three days, we will know soon enough if Foyth will keep getting some playing time or not. Regardless, it is good to see he got over 120 minutes this week.

Spurs Skipp Continues Success

Oliver Skipp had another solid outing for Norwich who continue to be racking up wins in the Championship. Skipp led the team in tackles with three and passing accuracy completing 94% of his 44 pass attempts. More importantly for Norwich they got the 2-0 win over visiting Cardiff to stretch their lead in the Championship to 5 points after 20 matches.

Skipp plays a bit of the Pierre Højbjerg type role for Norwich as one of the two deep lying midfielders. His assuredness in defense helps spring the Norwich attack as does his forward passing. As Skipp continues to build minutes he is going to see also get the experience of being in a title race, which is invaluable to a young player like Oliver.
