Starting Spurs Strikers vs Leicester

Despite three big misses from this group on Wednesday, José Mourinho does not deviate from his plan or his starting front three based on one game. As such the only real question is who starts on which side of Harry Kane, as Son and Bergwijn have been taking turns on the right and left both the last few matches.

Heung-Min Son – Left Wing

Heung-Min Son is clearly an automatic start at this point for Tottenham Hotspur. Along with his fellow attacking ace Harry Kane, Son is indispensable for the team now. After a big week where the South Korean won the Puskas Award for the best goal in 2020 – his dribbling run and goal against Burnley from last season – Son will be back in action and ready to go. Sonny briefly fell behind Mo Salad on Wednesday for the Premier League lead in goals, but quickly got back level at 11. Spurs will need goals to win this one and Son is one of the guys likely to deliver.

Harry Kane – Center Forward

Harry Kane is of course the starting center forward for Tottenham. While we will continue to see Kane all over the field – as he comes back to help with set pieces on defense – and is constantly dropping deep to help receive the ball on offense. Just as importantly Kane has been finding himself in the box but has struggled the last couple outings to get his shots on frame and in the net. Harry Kane is simply too good of a goal scorer to go too long without a goal and Leicester is one team Kane lovers to score against. Kane has more goals against Leicester – 16 in 10 appearances – than he does against any other team. After a big miss Wednesday, look for Kane to make amends in a big way on Sunday.

Steven Bergwijn – Right Wing

In the end Steven Bergwijn may play on the left and Son on the right or they may take turns and switch throughout the match regardless Steven Bergwijn is still going to be the guy starting opposite Son. Despite a rough day at the office on Wednesday Bergwijn has the confidence of his coach and his teammates. But of course, the key is his own confidence, and while the Dutchman seems a strong-willed lad a start after the misses midweek would be a real strong sign from the coach. As such Mourinho kind of must start him this match to reinforce his faith in his player and show it is more than just words.
