Spurs Players Ratings from Tottenham Loss at Liverpool
By Aaron Coe
Bench and Coach Rating
José Mourinho used his substitutes to strengthen and refresh his team in key areas and then to go for it late. While Tottenham seemed to be creating more opportunities as the game went on Spurs ran out of time before they could find a second.
Lucas Moura – 6
Lucas Moura came on for Giovani Lo Celso, moving Sissoko inside. The Sissoko move inside worked, but Moura was not quite on it today. Not as helpful in defense as Sissoko had been. Aurier’s decline in the second half was partially due to the extra work covering for Moura who was often trying to make something happen offensively but was ineffective.
Sergio Reguilón – 6.5
Sergio Reguilón only played a little over 15 minutes but was seeming to have an impact on the game. After Steven Bergwijn had run himself into the ground, Reguilón came in and picked up right where the Dutchman left off and doubling on defense to win the ball. Reguilón was one of the few Tottenham players to get to the end line and provide a cross. His best minutes in a few weeks, seems to have recovered from whatever it was that ailed him.
Dele Alli – N/A
Dele Alli came on for the last five minutes of the match for Son. Dele had one little moment of possession and was able to draw a free kick in an inviting area. It was the second time in two appearances that Dele has earned Spurs a free kick from a decent position, giving Spurs a chance late. Dele missed out on an opportunity to potentially score at the back post after Alisson tipped the ball over his head and out of harms way.
José Mourinho – 7
Mourinho and Tottenham were both better than was we saw in the second half against Crystal Palace. This game seemed to go exactly as José drew it up but then Spurs failed to capitalize. Had some interesting things to say after the match and despite the loss has the team confident and moving in a positive direction together.
