Tottenham Loan Round-up Skipp, Sessegnon Shine Parrott Plays
By Aaron Coe
The future of Tottenham Hotspur is both at N17 and working away from home as the club continues to loan players for experience and this weekend, they got it.
Tottenham Hotspur have several young players that have many inside and outside the club excited about their potential and futures with Spurs. However, given the current level of competition for places at Hotspur Way and the need to play, loans are a necessity. For the first time since they all went out on loan, all three Spurs Oliver Skipp, Ryan Sessegnon, and Troy Parrott played for their clubs, so what happened?
Troy Parrott at Millwall
Troy Parrott has had a difficult start to his loan to Millwall in the Championship. While we all believe Parrott is going to make it and has something to bring to Millwall, the problem has been being healthy and getting on the field. While Millwall have played 15 games since Parrott joined the club in September, Troy has only made two appearances, missing the other 13 matches with an ankle injury.
After making a cameo for the Republic of Ireland during the international break, Parrott again made a cameo for Millwall on the weekend. Parrott played the last 14 minutes of the Lions 1-1 draw with Cardiff. This is a good time for Parrott to be getting healthy, as Millwall has only scored one goal in their last four matches, meaning they need a goal scorer. Plus, with Kenneth Zohore out until at least January, this may be the chance Parrott needs. Let us hope this will be the first of many appearances for Spurs Irish phenom.
Oliver Skipp at Norwich
Oliver Skipp has had a vastly different experience to Troy Parrott on loan. Skipp arrived at Norwich healthy and ready to contribute and has received every opportunity to do so. In 13 matches since Skipp arrived, Oliver has started in 12 of them, missing only 1 match due to international duty. Skipp has gone the full 90 in 8 of those 12 matches including the last 4 games straight.
This past weekend in the 0-1 win over Middlesbrough Skipp was voted Man of the Match, by the fans. Although some of the Norwich fans were questioning how much Tottenham fans may have influenced the vote. Of course, Tottenham fans do not seem much to care as they swamp the votes.

Ultimately, Skippy’s performance on Saturday was likely something a bit short of MOTM, but it was another solid outing from the deep lying midfielder. Oliver was excellent with his passing and led the team percentage wise. However, six other Canaries attempted more passes than Skipp, meaning they were more central to the flow of the match.
In truth Skipp is having a good loan, but probably not quite as great as many casual fans might think when they see the man of the match awards. For one Norwich fan, they do not care about the man of the match voting, but when it comes down to it they want to make sure the player of the year vote is only open to Norwich faithful.
Ryan Sessegnon
After taking a few weeks to settle and get acclimated to a new team, league, and country, Ryan Sessegnon is finally starting to get things going at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. After playing just 15 minutes in his first two league games for Hoffenheim, Sessegnon has started the last three straight playing a full 90 minutes in each.
This past weekend, Sessegnon scored against VfB Stuttgart in Hoffenheim’s 3-3 draw. The goal shortly after halftime tied the game at 2. While the goal is nice, Sessegnon’s ability to attack and play offense has never really been in doubt, it is his defensive game that needs more attention. Sessegnon had a lively defensive game for Hoffenheim against Stuttgart.
Despite picking up a yellow card in just the 4th minute of action, Sessegnon, competed hard. Sessegnon was second on the team with 3 tackles and first on the team with 3 interceptions. Add in a couple clearances and the fact that Ryan won two aerial duels and suddenly we are seeing a more complete game from Sessegnon, which is exactly what Spurs want.
