International breaks are tricky periods for club teams; especially Tottenham Hotspur who have more than a dozen players participating in some way over the ‘break’.

Whether it is loan players like Oliver Skipp playing for the England U-21 side, or Hugo Lloris captaining the French National Team, Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of players that do international duty. Even with the likes of Gareth Bale, Dele Alli, and Heung-Min Son all not participating in the current international matches; Spurs still have a lot of players making the rounds for their respective countries.

Tottenham Player Roundup

After sitting out an earlier friendly, Tottenham Hotspur had three players participate in the 2-1 England victory over Belgium as Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld both went 90 minutes and Harry Kane made a cameo. Kane was of particular concern following reports of a muscle strain or tightness for the forward in training. Fortunately, for both the Three Lions and Spurs, the soreness was chalked up to fatigue and the striker made a 24-minute appearance helping England preserve the win.

Dier and Alderweireld were both more involved in the match, with the Englishman being called for a penalty against Romelu Lukaku in the first half, which the Belgian dispatched well. Alderweireld was involved in the third goal of the match as Mason Mounts shot deflected off Toby and over former Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet for the winner.

Harry Winks, who started and went over an hour in the warm-up friendly before Belgium was not on the bench for the Three Lions, who have one more match versus Denmark still on Wednesday before the players can return to the club. The England v Belgium game was not the only match featuring Spurs opposing one another.

Ben Davies’ Wales squad faced off with Matt Doherty’s Ireland team as the sides drew 0-0 in Dublin. Likewise Hugo Lloris and France had a 0-0 draw in versus Portugal, although Gedson Fernandes was not involved as he is featuring for the Portugal U-21 team in a U-21 Euro qualifier later this week versus Gibraltar, as Jack Roles should for Cyprus as will Ryan Sessegnon and Oliver Skipp for England at the U-21 level.

Zeros were a theme as Davinson Sanchez played 90 minutes for Columbia as they won a World Cup qualifier 3-0 over Venezuela. Staying in South America, Spur loaner Juan Foyth – who also signed an extension before moving to Sevilla – played the final sixteen minutes in Buenos Aires for Argentina’s 1-0 qualifying win over Ecuador.

Like Sanchez, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg played 90 minutes in a 3-0 victory, this one for Denmark over Iceland in the Nations League. Hojbjerg assisted the second goal, which was scored on a breakaway by former Spur Christian Eriksen.

After an injury scare in his first match of the break Sergio Reguilón never left the bench in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Switzerland. Finally, not to be left out, all four of our fullbacks are on international duty as Serge Aurier has already captained the Ivory Coast once and is expected to again feature and lead in a friendly against Japan on Tuesday.

Regardless of where the lads are playing the key for Spurs is staying healthy and fit, with West Ham on tap for Sunday afternoon at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, kicking off another busy period for the squad.
