Sergio Reguilon could make his Tottenham debut on Sunday.

It’s the start of a busy week for Tottenham Hotspur. This afternoon, they play the first of four games in three different competitions.

Up first, Newcastle United visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Premier League action.

One player to watch for today is Spurs’ new signing Sergio Reguilon. The talented left-back is yet to play since signing last week as he builds up match fitness, but he’ll be on the bench today against Newcastle.

Ben Davies gets the start at left-back as he has all season, but don’t be surprised if Reguilon gets some time off the bench today, even if the game is in hand. Jose Mourinho will likely want to ease him into action before he makes his first start.

The fact he’s on the bench shows he’s fit enough to contribute even if he’s not yet ready to start.

And there isn’t really many scenarios today in which it wouldn’t make sense to bring him off the bench.

If Spurs are ahead, Reguilon would provide some fresh legs, another defensive option, and he’d also get some valuable minutes. If Tottenham need a goal, he’s the type of player who could provide some spark to the attack and potentially create a goal.

It would be great to see Tottenham’s new signing in action at some point later today.

The wait for Gareth Bale’s re-debut will have to wait, however. As expected, Bale isn’t in the squad for today’s game. Bale is recovering from a knee injury and is also working on getting back to full match fitness. It could be another couple of weeks before Bale gets some playing time.

What’s your prediction for today’s game? Will Spurs get the three points? Will we see Reguilon in action at all?
