With four games in eight days, Tottenham face a near impossible task.

Competing in every competition will be no easy task for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

They haven’t been helped by a ridiculous schedule with four games taking place over the next eight days.

Spurs host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday, but just two days later they will take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup. In a normal week, Tottenham could possibly field close to their strongest team in both games, but Jose Mourinho has tough decisions ahead as the games keep on coming.

Just two days later, Tottenham are back in Europa League action in the playoff round. They host Maccabi Haifa with a spot in the group stage on the line. To finish it off, three days later they’ll be at Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

Fortunately, the first three games are all at home, which means there will be less travel involved. It could’ve been far worse had Spurs drawn an away game against Newcastle or Manchester City, then had to play on the road in the Europa League.

Despite that, it’s difficult for Mourinho to figure out who to play. The Premier League is a priority, of course, so he’ll need to field a strong XI in the games against Newcastle and Man United. They can’t afford to drop too many points in the race for the top-four, especially after losing to Everton in the season opener.

However, the two midweek matchups are win-or-go-home games. A loss to Chelsea and Maccabi Haifa would end two opportunities to win trophies.

You could argue the EFL Cup is the least important game, but it’s a home matchup with Chelsea. Mourinho won’t want to put out a “weaker” team and risk losing to a rival and his former club.

Tottenham certainly haven’t been helped by the schedule and they face a daunting task of rotating the squad while winning in all competitions this week.
