Gareth Bale is rumored to be interested in a move back to Tottenham.

Well, that escalated quickly.

No sooner than we were only discussing the possibility of Gareth Bale returning to Tottenham Hotspur, the rumor has picked up some momentum.

According to BBC Sport, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett said that Bale “still loves Spurs”, and that Tottenham is “where he wants to be”.

Well, that’s quite something.

According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Tottenham are in negotiations with Real Madrid for not only a deal for Bale, but also left back Sergio Reguilon. This would be an impressive double-signing by Spurs to say the least.

Gold adds that Madrid could possibly still pay some of Bale’s wages. This would make it a win-win deal for both sides as Madrid would still lower the wages they pay for Bale, while Tottenham would get a star player on an affordable deal.

Reguilon would also be a great addition for Tottenham and an upgrade over current starter Ben Davies. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Spurs are close to agreeing a permanent transfer with Madrid for Reguilon.

There’s absolutely no doubt after watching Sunday’s loss to Everton that Tottenham still need to make more additions to the squad.

It doesn’t get much bigger than Bale, who would be able to secure regular playing time back in the Premier League, and game time is what he’ll need to be fully prepared for next summer’s European Championships.

It’s been an interesting day for Spurs when it comes to transfer rumors. But, as Spurs fans know all too well, until the deal is made official, we shouldn’t get too excited.

That said, it’s hard not to smile when seeing the club linked to Bale and Reguilon, two players who could make a huge difference for Jose Mourinho’s team this season.
