Tottenham Hotspur Women name Josie Green new captain
By Aaron Coe
Tottenham Hotspur Women have named Josie Green the new captain.
With the retirement of longtime team captain Jenna Schillaci, the reins of leading Tottenham Hotspur Women team as captain have been handed to Josephine “Josie” Green.
While we regularly cover the Tottenham Hotspur Men’s team, we also want to feature the Spurs Women team, and they’ve had tremendous success over the last several seasons.

Jenna Schillaci will go down in the history books for Tottenham Hotspur, having joined the club when she was only 16 when women’s football was just a dream as a true profession.
After testing some other clubs, Schillaci spent the last 11 seasons at N17, and had the privilege of captaining the first WSL Spurs match at Stamford Bridge in 2019. Now retiring at the age of 36, the reins of leadership are passing on to Josie Green.
Josie gets the armband
Josie Green is a Welsh midfielder who has been at Tottenham since 2016, serving as part of the squad that won promotion to the WSL and professional status. Green tweeted about signing a new two-year extension with the club back in June.

Green was quoted on the club’s website stating what an honour and privilege it was to be named captain of the club and how proud of a moment it was for her and her family. Capped by Wales as part of their Women’s National Team, Josie is an all-action midfielder. Not known for her scoring or assisting, Josie did create 23 chances in 14 matches last season.
Called combative in the club’s bio for her, according to the dual head coaches, Green is “always pushing to raise the standards on and off the pitch” and “perfectly understands our values and what we stand for”. Partnered with the captain of the Men’s team Hugo Lloris, Green and Lloris make a pair of great leaders for the club.
Congratulations Josie Green, looking for good things from the THFC Women!
