Tottenham Hotspur returned to training on Wednesday.

The new Premier League season is almost here, and Tottenham Hotspur have begun their preparations. Spurs returned to training at Hotspur Way on Wednesday.

Tottenham’s new signings Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Joe Hart trained with the club for the first time.

With just a few weeks to prepare for the new season, it helps to have the new signings already at training. They will both be able to participate in the preseason, which gets underway this weekend.

Spurs have three preseason games, the first of which is against Ipswich Town at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday. They will then host two Championship clubs in consecutive days, with Reading, then Birmingham City visiting Tottenham on Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29.

Due to the shortened gap between seasons, as well as the pandemic, this is more of an old-school preseason for Spurs with games against lower-league clubs, as opposed to meeting other Premier League and European clubs in overseas tours.

The Premier League begins in just over three weeks on September 12 in what will be a quick turnaround between seasons due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to Sky Sports, the fixtures for the Premier League will be released on Thursday.

Spurs likely aren’t done in the transfer window, but hopefully, they’ll get new signings done quickly to give them plenty of time to prepare for the new season. While this transfer window doesn’t close until October 5 — giving teams lots of time — it’s helpful to get deals done sooner rather than later.

It’s not easy for a player to come in once the season has started and make an instant impact. The benefit Hojbjerg has is he will be with the club throughout the preseason.

With just three weeks to go until the new league season, Spurs are back at training and preparing for a busy year in all competitions.
