Doesn’t matter if it’s Amazon or Nike as long as Tottenham get deal done

It doesn’t really matter whether Nike or Amazon obtain the naming rights for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as long as the deal gets done in short order. 

There’s no doubt the naming rights for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be sold to the highest bidder. The £250 million question lingers, though. Will it be Amazon, Nike, Google or another juggernaut yet to be disclosed as a candidate?

In the end, as long as the deal gets done, it doesn’t really matter which multi billion dollar company swoops in and makes it their own. What matters is getting the deal across the line. Spurs badly need the investment and funds the naming rights deal will garner. The prospective deal is predicted to be the world’s most lucrative for stadium naming rights, with Tottenham seeking £25 million a year over 10 years.

The Daily Mail provided the latest speculation, saying Amazon could now be considered frontrunners to secure naming rights. Many are criticizing Daniel Levy for not having a deal in place when the stadium opened, which was almost a year behind schedule.

While it’s prudent for Levy to find the right deal, some believe his inaction was fiscally irresponsible. That would be a new one for Levy, who has been called a lot of things before; fiscally irresponsible not being one of them.

He’s obviously waiting for the right deal, like he does with so many of Spurs’ transfers.

Rest assured, he will not capitulate or deviate from his asking price.

Levy will remain steadfast on the price, waiting for the right company to agree to his terms. It’s more a matter of when the deal will be done, not who will obtain naming rights.

Spurs are still on the hook for repaying over £600 million on the stadium, putting more pressure on getting the impending deal done in a timely manner.
