Tottenham turn their attention to the FA Cup on Wednesday, when they’ll host Norwich with a quarterfinal berth on the line.

Team update

Erik Lamela is available for selection, though it will be a surprise if he starts. He is dealing with a lingering niggling groin injury. Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Moussa Sissoko are all out long term, while Juan Foyth is making good progress. He and Hugo Lloris are doubtful for Wednesday’s match, while Ryan Sessegnon is unavailable for selection due to a hip injury.

Starting 11

It looks more and more like Jose Mourinho is putting all of his eggs in the FA Cup basket. He will assuredly play the strongest team possible when Norwich come calling. Steven Bergwijn will retain his spot in the team, whose support will come in the form of Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Giovani Lo Celso.

While many of us would love to see Troy Parrott in the team, it’s a highly unlikely prospect with Mourinho’s steadfast on his opinion the Irishman isn’t yet ready for senior action.

There is a chance

Gedson Fernandes

will get the nod in place of Moura, who has played a lot of football lately without respite. Erik Lamela probably won’t start, as Jose knows how detrimental another long term injury to a senior player would be. He should err on the side of caution where the Argentine is concerned.

Tanguy Ndombele is perfectly suited to battle Norwich. His physicality combats perfectly Norwich’s rough and tumble style. He’ll provide the engine in midfield while Sunday’s captain, Harry Winks, will pull the strings from his usual holding role.

Next. Troy Parrott dilemma polarizes opinion. dark

Toby Alderweireld is back in the starting team, thankfully, His presence was sorely missed against Wolves on the weekend. The usual suspects line up beside him, forming the bedrock of Spurs’ rearguard.

Paulo Gazzaniga stands in for the injured Lloris.
