Ranking Tottenham’s top five performers so far this season
By Gary Pearson
5. Giovani Lo Celso
After his early struggles and physical ailments, it’s astonishing how far Giovani Lo Celso has come in the last couple of months. To even make the top five list is an admirable accomplishment. His first few months at the club were shrouded in tumult. An injury while on international duty set him back further, but Lo Celso would not be denied. He has been Tottenham’s best player in the last two months, dominating midfield in all capacities.
Not only showcasing his delicate skill on the ball, Lo Celso has endeared himself to supporters with his tireless, relentless work rate and his unexpected ability to tackle and track back. He is dictating the tempo while threading the needle via innumerable incisive passes. He is fully deserving of his permanent contract and, had it not been for the first few months, would be higher in the top 5.
