Tottenham close to announcing signing of PSV forward Steven Bergwijn

PSV forward Steven Bergwijn, who has largely gone under the transfer speculation radar, is said to be close to signing with Tottenham.
The forward, who also plays from the left, has been left out of PSV’s lineup to face FC Twente in anticipation of joining the north London side.
"According to the Express, “the adaptable forward has scored five goals and provided 10 assists in the Eredivisie this campaign, establishing himself as PSV’s top performer.”"
Dutch publication De Telegraaf broke the story, which has caught quite a few closely associated with Tottenham off guard.
The 22-year-old arrived at PSV in 2016-17 and has been a mainstay in the side’s first 11 since. Young, physical and blessed with a formidable top speed, Bergwijn, while not Spurs top choice to help out a side starved of goals, is highly touted.
He scored 14 goals in 33 Eredivisie appearances in 2018-19, his best goal return since joining the Dutch juggernauts.
While seen as a crafty striker who can thrives on the left, he isn’t the most prolific scorer and still has a lot to learn. He does, however, hold the ball up well and drives confidently at defenders.
This move wouldn’t bring Tottenham bundles of goals immediately, but would certainly help stabilize things up front.
It is thought Spurs will have to pay about £30 million to secure Bergwijn, who is expected to play an integral part in Holland’s Euro 2020 campaign. Bergwijn’s agent is in London discussing the potential move with Spurs’ top brass.
Don’t be surprised if you see this deal come to fruition in the next few days. Thoughts on the potential transfer?
