Heung Min-Son buried a close range header from a fortuitous ricochet to save Tottenham’s bacon, as the home side bundled across the line for an all-important 2-1 victory.

It wasn’t, in all honesty, the most convincing of home wins. Son’s winner plastered over a bevy of inadequacies and deficiencies. But the most important thing during adversity is to get the job done, regardless of how. Though Tottenham fans will leave the stadium tonight feeling fortunate at taking all three points.

Ryan Sessegnon‘s ill-timed, late tackle handed Norwich’s most dangerous player, Teemu Pukki, with a golden opportunity to equalize from the spot earlier in the half, which he just managed to do.  Hugo Lloris, who made his anticipated return after four months out, got a hand to it but couldn’t turn it around the post.

Tottenham were wholly unconvincing in the second half, unable to get a foothold in the match. A crisis at the club is afoot based on the last month of poor performances.

Even though Tottenham have cut the deficit and are now just six points behind Chelsea, the performance was tragically underwhelming. Too often Tottenham’s mistakes are compounded by their inability to put the opposition to bed.

Devoid, other than Son’s 79th minute winner, of a single clear-cut opportunity in the second half, Tottenham were outplayed by the relegation favourites.

I’m sure we’re all breathing a collective sigh of relief after a nervy match that saw my heart rate increase uncontrollably throughout.
