A more appealing striker now on Tottenham’s radar

A striker Tottenham supporters can get excited about has popped up on their radar, with Lyon’s Moussa Dembele being linked to the club. 

One of Lyon’s few bright spots, in a season they’d thus far rather forget, is Moussa Dembele. And if that name sparks energy and creates a fervour of excitement, you’re not alone. If only it was the Mousa we are all thinking of.

But fear not, as this Moussa is also worth getting excited about. Goal.com, or SportingNews, states that Tottenham have made inquiries about the Frenchman’s availability. Lyon are opposed to selling their top scorer in January, but may reconsider their position for the right price. According to Transfermarkt, Dembele is worth about £34 million. Though that price might increase depending on how resistant Lyon are to selling.

Dembele has bagged 10 goals in 19 Ligue 1 matches and is just three shy of scorer Wissam Ben Yedder at the halfway stage. Wanted by Chelsea, Dembele is the type of striker who would thrive at Tottenham.

Athletic, quick and blessed with a decisive killer instinct, Dembele certainly has a nose for goal.

Still only 23 years old, Dembele has youth on his side. He plays fearlessly and is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League. WhoScored flags his unwillingness to track back and a deficiency at holding up play as his two main weaknesses. But, based on his goal scoring record, age and overall skill set, he looks like the real deal.

Spurs will most definitely have to pay above market value to make this deal a possibility. And they face a stern challenge from the West Londoners to win Dembele’s devotion. While still in the embryonic stages of negotiation, it doesn’t hurt to dream of adding another Moussa to the lineup, while bringing back Dembele in an entirely different form.
