According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus has accepted Tottenham’s £65 million bid for Paulo Dybala, paving the path for the star’s arrival at Hotspur Way.

This news, if verified, will send Spurs nation into a state of euphoria, as Dybala is the type of player capable of lifting the club to a level needed to win the Premier League. Di Marzio’s reputation this summer was, due to incorrect assertions, was dented, but there’s still a good chance this particular report is accurate.

It would mean that Spurs will have to merely agree personal terms with the 25-year-old Argentinian, who has personal links with Mauricio Pochettino. The news broke about an hour after Philippe Coutinho was linked with a move to North London.

The Dybala rumours dissipated slightly in recent weeks, with headlines about Giovani Lo Celso and Bruno Fernandes taking centre stage. Dybala is one of the world’s best playmakers, whose nous around goal will offer Tottenham another dangerous scoring threat.

As reported about by HQ about a week ago, Dybala is currently on about £120, 000 per week, making his wage packet fall in line with Tottenham’s salary commitments. Both Harry Kane and Dele Alli make more, so, while on the upper limits of their salary expenditure, Dybala is definitely affordable. However, Dybala has recently professed his intentions of earning a much higher wage than his current salary, possibly searching for over £200,000 per week. This could prove to be the deal’s downfall, as Tottenham will not offer him that sort of money.

This type of talk could also be a way to drive the Giovani Lo Celso deal downward in price. If Dybala doesn’t end up coming to Tottenham, it’s likely that Lo Celso will.

News of this transfer, if confirmed, will send shockwaves across world football. In all likelihood, Pochettino will provide Dybala the kind of freedom and autonomy he requires to play to his full potential, a frightening prospect for the rest of the Premier League.

This deal could pave the path to a Christian Eriksen exit, though thoughts of him joining Manchester United will not sit well with Tottenham supporters. Then again, that blow would be lessened significantly when Spurs supporters see Dybala coming out of the tunnel and onto the playing surface at the new White Hart Lane.
