Tottenham Hotspur 2019 pre-season tour and fixtures
By Gary Pearson
Tottenham, amidst all the rampant transfer speculation, are preparing for their pre-season tour, which kicks off with a match on July 21 against Juventus.
Before staring their Premier League campaign on Aug. 10 at home to Aston Villa, Spurs participate in the International Champions Cup and Audi Cup. Both mini tournaments are, to yield the most viewers, glamorized as cup matches.
No matter how you dub them, Tottenham are officially back on the pitch in a competitive capacity in a week. The long, gruelling football year starts in Singapore with a match against the Old Lady, offering Mauricio Pochettino some insight into how his side look after a seven week hiatus. Expect the gaffer to start a bevy of his fringe players for the first two fixtures. They cap off their brief tour of Asia with a match against Manchester United in Shanghai on July 25.
Tottenham return to Europe for two Audi Cup matches, both of which are predictably being played in Munich. The first of back-to-back games comes against Real Madrid on July 30. They follow that fixture up the following day against either Bayern Munich or Fenerbahce.
Tottenham return to London for their last pre-season match, where they play on Aug. 4 against Inter Milan. That fixture in on Sunday, less than a week before the club’s Premier League campaigns swings into action.
Hopefully Spurs have another signing or two locked up before the end of the pre-season tour. Rest assured that Tanguy Ndombele, the club’s record signing, will see his first match action during the pre-season tour.
Eric Dier won’t be so fortunate, though, as the midfielder is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure that will see him miss the pre-season tour.
