Finally, the news we’ve all been waiting for: Tanguy Ndombele, the club announces, is officially a Tottenham Hotspur player.
There’s no more ifs ands or buts, as the Frenchman has joined Tottenham on a six-year deal that will see him ply his trade at Hotspur Way until 2025. Spurs supporters have been waiting for confirmation with bated breath, many of whom doubted its veracity.

Well, all the speculation, conjecture and rumours were true. Sometimes we just need to have a bit of faith, as this signing puts Tottenham in a position of power with over a month remaining until the 2019-20 Premier League campaign commences.
Tottenham shatter club transfer record with Ndombele signing
Shattering the previous £42 million club transfer record, Tottenham splashed out £55 million on Ndombele, who could receive another £9m in add-ons. The previous record was set when Tottenham purchased Davinson Sánchez from Ajax in 2017.
While we take a minute to absorb this exquisite news, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will be working diligently on finding another piece to the puzzle.
One or two more strong signings will catapult Tottenham into another stratosphere, ensuring they put the pressure on both Manchester City and Liverpool at the summit of Premier League title challengers. With doubts over Kieran Trippier’s future and Serge Aurier’s chronic injury troubles, a solid right back will be on the top of Tottenham’s wish list.
As elation pervades today across Tottenham nation, our next thoughts shift to what role Ndombele will play in Mauricio Pochettino’s side. He’s obviously a shoo-in to crack the starting 11, most likely sliding into a protective central role in front of Tottenham’s rearguard.
Most advantageous though is the 22 year old’s versatility. With the ability to pick a precise pass and drive forward with power and pace, Ndombele is not pigeonholed into the holding role. Although that is where he is currently best suited.
Another benefit is the timing of the signing. Having Ndombele around the club for the duration of pre-season will give the young Frenchman the time he’ll need to adapt and become comfortable with his new teammates and environment.
The Frenchman’s growth last season at Lyon put the world on notice, as he leapfrogged in value from £7 million to £55 million in just under a year.
Pochettino was unequivocal in his address to Levy and the club, saying he required access to a fair portion of the club’s ever-growing profits if Spurs had any chance of ascending to the next level.
This signing is a clear show of intent from Levy, who obviously knows the importance of Pochttino’s happiness. Without Pochettino, the entire project would collapse, particularly with the gaffer being one of the most enticing reasons for players to join the club.
"“It is imperative that this year we strengthen the team,” Pochettino said last week. “We saved a lot of money in almost two years without signing, and that should allow us to strengthen ourselves as well.”"
Pochettino was absolutely correct in those assertions, as the Telegraph reported that Tottenham announced “a world-record profit of £113m after tax in the 12 months to June 2018, thanks to player sales and hosting matches at Wembley.”
The building blocks are now in place. Another couple of solid signings and Tottenham will take their rightful place among City and Liverpool as bona-fide Premier League favourites.
