Sky Sports are the first of the mainstream media outlets in the UK to confirm that Tanguy Ndombele, predicated on a prerequisite medical, is Tottenham-bound.

Christmas Day has come early for Spurs supporters, such was the level of anticipation regarding Ndombele, who will almost certainly suit up for the Lilywhites in the 2019-20 season. The club has not officially announced the behemoth transfer, but its confirmation is indeed imminent.

Whether you’re in the doghouse with your missus or you’re on the outs at work will matter little today, as all Spurs supporters are bound to be in a jolly mood. The new Dembele is set to take his place protecting Spurs’ back four, exceptional news for a team in dire need of a marshal in the centre of the pitch.

Spurs are purportedly paying £65 million for Ndombele’s services, a reasonable price for the prized asset. And he’s worth every penny. The Frenchman has all the attributes you’d expect of someone who shatters the club transfer record, and he’s only 22 years old, another benefit to Mauricio Pochettino and company. Ndombele is going to alter the complexion of the starting 11, spearheading questions of whether he can play with Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks, or just one of the above.

Now the deal is almost assuredly done, Spurs can concentrate on making another move or two while preparing for the 2019-20 campaign. Pochettino would appreciate it dearly if Daniel Levy signs Giovani Lo Celso, but let’s take one massive move at a time.

And who knows, Victor Wanyama still has every chance of returning to his once glorious form this season. Injuries have plagued the Kenyan in the past two seasons, but his return to full strength would do wonders for Tottenham’s beleaguered depth in the middle of the park.

Next. Can supporters count on Jack Clarke to sign with Tottenham?. dark

Here’s to a new midfield generation at Spurs.

Can’t wait to see whether Ndombele can live up to the massive expectations that come with his record transfer fee.

Then again, the club hasn’t officially announced the deal yet so maybe we should refrain on chugging champagne uncontrollably. Although for some it’s already too late for that.
