Marseille’s Hirokai Sakai

In Marseille’s Hiroki Sakai, Tottenham have identified an unheralded dark horse to replace Kieran Trippier, Sky Sports reports. But this transfer has as much substance as a glamorous Sun headline. He’s a reliable right back, but lacks the pizazz and flair needed to penetrate stout defensive sides. A consummate professional, most sides would be lucky to land the Japanese veteran.

Spurs, however, have their sights on challenging for the Premier League title, and players of Sakai’s pedigree simply won’t cut the mustard.
