Don’t pop the cork just yet, but reports suggest Real Betis’ top brass met with Tottenham officials, with both parties closing in on an deal that would see Lo Celso move to North London.

Of course we’ve been here before, but Mauricio Pochettino’s focus is squarely on landing Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, both of whom would transform the current Spurs’ side. Tottenham’s original £53 million bid for Lo Celso was turned down by Betis, but Daniel Levy and company are poised to make an improved offer imminently.

Few people believe Tottenham will pay the full £88.9 million release cause, but an improved offer might be enough to convince Betis to offload their playmaker.

To land Lo Celso, Spurs must increase their bid by at least £10 million, especially with, due to a clause with Betis, PSG set to take a 20 percent share on profits of the sale. Negotiations for a player of his quality are never straightforward, with Atletico also showing clear intent. The Spanish side reportedly made a £49 million bid, which was promptly rejected.

Akin to their pursuit of Ndombele, Spurs are thought to be frontrunners to secure the Argentine’s signature, but, even with the obvious progression, a noticeable gulf still exists between both sides. Betis will hold out as long as necessary to bleed every ounce of profit out of the would-be-suitor, and Levy, as everyone knows, won’t pay a penny more than necessary.

Is it possible Tottenham are going to splash out on both Ndombele and Lo Celso in short succession? Both potential signings will, if confirmed, smash Spurs’ record transfer fee, which saw the club spend £42 million on Davinson Sánchez in August 2017.

Supporters are glued to the newswire for any updates on these malleable prospective transfers.  If they manage to sign both players, Spurs will be in dreamland. As long as one of these marquee targets signs on the dotted line, supporters will rejoice, knowing the building blocks for a run at the Premier League title are being cemented.

Who do you hope signs first for Spurs, Ndombele or Lo Celso? Or does it really matter as long as one of them is on their way to N17?
