Having moved into their new stadium and starting their new era Tottenham appear to be wasting no time and are rumored to be selling 12 players this summer.

Most people around the world of football felt bad for Mauricio Pochettino last summer and during the January transfer window when despite his phenomenal work at Tottenham the club didn’t give him any reinforcements to work with.  That said the Argentinean manager admirably got his head down and at one point had Spurs on the verge of a historic title.  Now that may have slipped away but the team are still on pace for a top-4 finish and have finally moved into their new stadium.

This past year does though seem to have been a one off and Tottenham are planning an ambitious rebuild before the new campaign that might lead the club towards silverware.  Tottenham are planning on selling a possible 12 players.  The point of this will be to help the club raise funds for more purchases but to also add new blood, youth and a renewed sense of commitment to the team as they move into the new era.

The plan is to sell all of Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Victor Wanyama, Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko and possibly Christian Eriksen if a resolution to his contract stalemate cannot be made.

Though all of the players are not expected to leave they are players whom Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino are agreed on doing a bit of business on.

It will be good for Tottenham to look into reshaping the squad on a large basis although the amount of turnover is a bit worrying and something that they should keep an eye on.  One of the things that makes this Tottenham side so special and able to punch above their weight in relation to the other more expensively assembled side is their bond and spirit.  It’s that invisible and incalculable thing that Pochettino has built in the team over his time in charge and they should look to preserve that while adding quality if possible.

Generally a good rule of thumb is that adding any more than three players at any one time isn’t so much a fix for the squad as major surgery and it can just like in the real world take a very long time to recover from something that serious.

Tottenham should do their best to try and raise nearly 100 million pounds through sails and then commit some from the coffers raised at Wembley and in the new stadium.  Adding a smaller amount to the team but of true and genuine quality is exactly what Tottenham should do. 12 incomings and outgoings would be hard for the team to sustain but some truly good quality signings that will top up the overall level of the team would be perfect however so if Tottenham and the decision makers that be can find a way to meet in the middle that could be the best way forward.
