Tottenham should raid Real Madrid back in any Eriksen sale

With Zidane back at Real Madrid the rumor mill has gone into overdrive.  This is bad for Tottenham given that one of the players Zizou is said to covet the most is Tottenham’s star creative force Christian Eriksen.

If Tottenham are going to lose a player of Eriksen’s quality to Real Madrid they should fight back in terms of the players that they receive from Real Madrid too.  On top of an exceptional fee Tottenham should ask for any two of Raphael Varane, James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos or if only for the emotional side of it Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid are going to try and add a lot of players this summer.  Many of whom will be wildly expensive.  Tottenham should use this to their advantage knowing that Los Blancos will be looking to restructure the side with purchases as well as by selling players.

In a realistic world if Coutinho was worth 120 million euros then Eriksen is worth every single penny of that fee but Real will not want to spend it because they’re also looking to try and add Eden Hazard and if rumors are to be believed either Kylian Mbappe or Neymar or both.  Even in the unbelievably money drenched circles that Real Madrid occupy that will be too expensive.

Tottenham should seize on this by trying to get some of Real Madrid’s players at a premium.

It is rumored that Raphael Varane simply wants a new challenge. James Rodriguez is ready to leave Real Madrid after being deemed surplus to requirements and spending two unhappy seasons away from the club in Bavaria and then Toni Kroos simply hasn’t had a good season and everybody in the world of football knows how under-appreciated Gareth Bale is in Madrid.

If Tottenham were able to suggest that Madrid give them a fee between 65-80 million plus two of those players.  Preferably Kroos and Rodriguez or Varane and Rodriguez then Tottenham in the guise of helping Madrid save money would get paid and make a substantial profit on their fee for Eriksen but also add two players in positions of weakness for the club.

The most important player to add would be Rodriguez.  The Colombian could replace Eriksen’s creativity with immediate effect while also adding more of a goal threat with that famous left foot of his.  Then either Toni Kroos could simply add class and passing ability and a good head to the midfield which can at times lack that very important factor when things are going poorly.

Varane will be the hardest to wrestle away from the club and convince to join all at once.  He supposedly wants a new challenge but the addition of Zidane and the fact that he’s one of the best defenders in the world makes it hard to think that Madrid will be liable to let him go.

Bale woud also be a good addition.  It just so happens that with his age and salary it is unlikely.  It would be a welcome hero’s return if he made the transition and the sort of thing that would help fill the stadium.  Given his time at the club it could also be the sort of inspiration the Spurs the Spurs (the temptation was too big) on to great things moving forward.  His proven experience as a winner and one of the most celebrated British players of all time could show the youth and the club everything they need to finally get across the line and win a trophy.

Food for thought.  There are many ways to profit here and perhaps the best may be too think beyond the fiscal nature of things.
