Despite what many people think it is not Harry Kane, Dele Alli or even Son who is the most valuable person at Tottenham Hotspur.  Manager Mauricio Pochettino is the jewel in the crown and will be very desired by many clubs this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has proven himself to be one of the most influential and talented managers in world football in recent years and it is because of this that he is also going to be one of the most desired.  With the fact that he has managed to take Spurs from a group of well respected also ran’s to the dominant London club as well as overseen the development of most of the key players in the best England team in 30 years Pochettino has shown exactly how important a manager can be to the growth of an organization and team all at once.

Without Pochettino one can’t think that Spurs would be handling themselves this well in the title race while also moving their way through the litany of issues brought upon them by playing essentially every match as an away one while still at Wembley and simultaneously off-putting the embarrassment of sometimes having to play matches at MK Dons as well as the ridiculous issues that have put the stadium behind it’s already late opening date.

The truth is though that with the financial constraints that the club has put on him in recent times Pochettino may start to feel that he has taken the club as far as he can.  Previously the club should be given credit for the fact that they have backed him rather well.  They have broken their transfer record a number of times and brought in a lot of key talent to help surround the homegrown core that is not only the pride of the club but of Pochettino’s career so far.

That said consistent investment is what builds winning sides that last the length of time and Spurs haven’t spent a pound to aid the chase for silverware since last January and it’s ridiculous.  The poor planning surrounding the overages on the stadium have cost Spurs what could very well have been the title by the time the year is over.
