Deadline Day Daniel must buy
Daniel Levy must make a purchase before the end of the January transfer window if he’s to save Tottenham Hotspur’s season.
Tottenham have endured a terrible week. They’re out of both domestic cup competitions and having to endure the embarrassment of their manager admitting that the club cannot yet afford to focus on winning trophies. That’s the sort of thing that no supporter should ever have to endure. Particularly a support that are as ardent and strong willed as that which is behind the North London club.
Harry Kane is out until March. Dele Alli is out as well until March and now the only things to play for are the Premier League and the Champions League both of which will be out of reach soon if Spurs don’t strengthen their squad.
Perhaps it is lost on those in charge at White Hart Lane but Borussia Dortmund are very possibly one of the top three sides in Europe at the moment and they should be taken very sersiously. That means that playing against them entirely understrength without the best striker in Europe and one of the best creative attacking talents in Europe is a bad idea.
Tottenham are running the chance through stinginess of entering the new stadium without Champions League football or even a squad that fits it entirely.
There’s a lot of important matches coming up and with Manchester United heating up at the moment and Chelsea having added another one of Gonzalo Higuain’s disciples the race is getting more and more difficult every moment. Tottenham really have no time to waste at the moment and need a signing that will make an impact now.
If Tottenham can even make a signing for the current situation and then simply announce a couple that are coming through in the summer that would be the best thing that the club could do. Adding Malcolm from Barcelona and then announcing Kasper Dolberg and Matthijs de Ligt in a double deal to happen in the summer would be a phenomenal thing. The incoming Malcolm would help lift the current cloud around the club that has happened with the two recent cup losses and then the two for the summer would help invigorate a fanbase deeply in need of good news.
To come into the new stadium with Dolberg and Kane up front with de Ligt and Vertonghen at the back and supplied by Alli, Malcolm, Moura, Eriksen and Son would be one of the best teams in the Premier League and the basis for a historic title challenge next season.
