Premier League clubs now interested in Tottenham’s Eriksen
By Zaph Hutson
Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester United are now rumored to be interested in Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur. Several teams seem to be considering a move for the Danish midfielder even after Spurs added a massive transfer fee to his contract.
Christian Eriksen is in the prime of his career. Even though he has missed many Premier League matches this year, he has contributed 4 goals and 8 assists for Spurs.
Because of his offensive excellence, he is attracting strong interest from the world’s biggest clubs. First, it seemed like Real Madrid would even make an offer for him. It is reported that Real are no longer looking to bring the Dane onboard but Juventus hoped that signing him would “raise the technical rate of the team.”
Now, the laundry-list of possible Eriksen destinations just got a bit longer. According to one report, Chelsea and Manchester United are hoping to add him to their ranks. It is assumed they believe that since Real have ended their interest then they have a better chance. Don’t be too worried just yet, though. The two Premier League sides will most likely make a move this summer and not before then.
Tottenham signed Eriksen from Ajax for £11m but the club has now added a much bigger transfer fee. In November of 2018, they slapped a price tag of £222.6 million (€250 million) on him.
While many clubs are rumored to make transfers in the near future, there isn’t much to speak of for Tottenham. This is because Daniel Levy has been very reticent to reinvest in the club lineup lately. Perhaps if Eriksen is sold for his massive fee, Pochettino will be able to buy one… or even TWO players. Sorry, got a little ahead of myself there. One will do.
Hopefully Eriksen will go to a club outside of the Premier League like Juventus. The last thing Tottenham needs is to have Eriksen line up in the opposite formation.
