Following the long term injury of Tottenham’s key striker Harry Kane the North London club have stepped up the chase for other attacking talent. Their eyes have apparently turned to Barcelona’s young talented Malcolm.

The good news is that Harry Kane isn’t injured for as long as originally feared.  The better news it that the fear of losing him for as long as was originally suggested has apparently shocked Spurs into entering the transfer market for more firepower.  That is some of the best combination of news any football fan is likely to hear this winter.

The player being suggested is Barcelona’s Malcolm.  The young Brazilian was one of the hottest properties of the summer transfer window.  Everybody knows the story about his transfer to Roma in which he literally had the plane rerouted to Barcelona mid-flight despite all of the Roma supporters waiting for him at the airport.

That said things haven’t worked out as planned at Barcelona.  The Catalan club have too many expensive attacking players up front.  One of whom is Ousmane Dembele and while it was once thought that the talented Frenchman was earning his way out of the club with his delinquent behavior he has turned over a new leaf recently.  With his excellent performances Malcolm is seeing too little of the field.

Barcelona have now judged Malcolm to be excess to their needs and he is available for transfer.  Most recently he was offered in a swap deal to Chelsea for Willian but that fell through due to the hard-line negotiating of the Blues.  Tottenham have now decided to swoop and it could not be better news.

Malcolm would be a fantastic signing for Tottenham to make.  He is a viscerally quick and talented winger who possesses an incredible goal threat.  This is exactly the sort of thing that Tottenham need.  He is a great dribbler but also passes with vision.  On multiple occasions he has been compared to Arjen Robben.  The Dutchman was one of the early inventors of the goalscoring inverted winger during his time at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho and even more so during his time at Bayern and Real Madrid. If Tottenham can add a player that talented then they’ll have strengthened for the run in exactly as they should.

This is the perfect signing for Tottenham to make.  It will relieve the goalscoring load on Harry Kane and make it much easier for Tottenham to break down opponents creatively.  A perfect signing that hopefully Levy can get done as soon as possible.
