Tottenham enter chase for defender Joachim Anderson
Tottenham are preparing to enter the race for Sampdoria’s Danish defender Joachim Anderson with a 40 million euro bid.
With Tottenham trying to make a few additions to their squad in the January transfer window to strengthen their trophy chase they are preparing the enter the race for the in-demand Sampdoria defender Joachim Anderson. The Scandinavian defender is something of a hot property at the moment due to his star-making performances for Sampdoria this season.
He is also being chased by Inter Milan and Tottenham are hoping to beat the Milan based giants to his signature and are rumored to be readying a 40 million Euro bid. This would be a strong move by Tottenham who are shaking up their squad this winter.
It has already been suggested that central defender Toby Alderweireld could be on his was to PSG as part of a swap deal for Belgian right-back Thomas Meunier and so Tottenham would need a replacement for him in central defense. Though they already have Davinson Sanchez the big Colombian’s performances have been hit or miss this season. Though he possesses as much potential as perhaps anybody in world football Tottenham must live in the time of now.
Tottenham are competing on all fronts and a large and competitive squad is something that will help them do that. With the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League all on the table Tottenham must find a way to strengthen their squad while not rocking the boat too much.
The added benefit of the fact that Joachim Anderson is an international teammate of Christian Eriksen is a great thing as well. Eriksen is possibly the most if not second most important member of Tottenham’s squad and he is rather disenfranchised with the club at the moment. He is rumored to be stalling on a new contract offer amid interest from Spain and so adding anybody that could turn his head and interest him in extending his time in North London should be seen as a positive.
This is exactly the sort of move that Tottenham should be making if they can and it shows the sort of ambition that could help them keep Pochettino away from both Real Madrid and Manchester United in the summer. That is still the biggest long-term goal and Daniel Levy must know that. Too many times Pochettino’s ambitions have been hamstrung by the clubs inability or unwillingness to spend. This January would be a good time to renew the managers faith as well as the players.
