Tottenham Hotspur seem to be hitting their stride as the Premier League festive fixtures come fast and thick. Playing their third game in one week, Spurs showed their finishing ability and routed an adventurous Bournemouth 5-0 on Boxing Day.

Tottenham Hotspur hosted Bournemouth FC at Wembley on Boxing Day. After a couple of decent chances Bournemouth couldn’t capitalize on, Spurs put the Cherries to the sword and rolled 5-0, with a goal each from Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura, and Harry Kane and two from Heung-Min Son. So how did the squad perform and what are the player ratings for the game?

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris – 7.5

Hugo Lloris was a bit busier than he has been in some Premier League games this year. The Cherries pressed hard and worked to make chances. They had 14 shots on goal, four more than Spurs; but only 4 of those shots were on target and they were all handled by Lloris. Anytime Spurs can get a clean sheet it is a good thing and doing so with two of our younger defenders is even better. Lloris was the terrific captain and shot stopper Spurs needed on the day.

Defenders

Danny Rose – 7

Danny Rose was playing in his 4th game out of Tottenham’s last five and continues to find some form. Rose was all over the left-hand side of the pitch, attacking and defending. Rose had one crucial block on Junior Stanislas at about 66 minutes to help preserve the tie. Rose seemed to have a chance to score late, but overran the back pass from Kane, which ultimately led to a Moura shot and Son’s second goal on the rebound. Rose seems to be getting back to his marauding best.

Juan Foyth – 6.5

Foyth had some good plays and then a couple plays where he may have been a bit lucky. His obstruction steps in the box on Wilson, just after the start of the second half could have gone the other way with a different referee. Fortunately, Foyth was not called for a foul and the game continued. Foyth was once again strong on the ball and showed the ability to spread the ball around, finding Danny Rose with a few good cross field balls to switch play. Overall a solid game, where the errors didn’t hurt, but Foyth still needs to clean a few things up.

Toby Alderweireld – 7

It was a relatively quiet game for Toby Alderweireld, which is good. He did a fantastic job next to Foyth and in supporting Kyle Walker-Peters. Alderweireld pinged the ball all over the park and did a solid job defensively. There was more of a when in doubt, kick it out approach yesterday. This allowed the younger defenders to get into position and play with good organization. Toby continues to be a good soldier for Spurs, let’s hope this contract extension and potential summer buy-out don’t spell the end for this top-class defender in Lillywhite.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 8

Kyle Walker-Peters was starting for the first time this year in a Premier League match. Following-up from his Champions League game at Barcelona, it was good to see KWP on the pitch. The same deer in the headlights moment from Barcelona never came and Walker-Peters was solid defensively and a nightmare for Bournemouth on offense. KWP became the first player in the League this year to record three assists in one game, and he did it all in the first half. This doesn’t mean he wasn’t strong in the second-half, just nothing was going to top a first-half hat trick of assists. With both Trippier and Aurier having struggled of late with fitness and injury, this is a good sign for Spurs. For more on KWPs performance, check out this article from my colleague Zaph Hutson.
