Heung-Min Son needs to be a regular fixture in Pochettino’s lineup. The forward’s electric play is needed for Spurs to be productive offensively. This is the case even a day after he didn’t score against in the North London Derby.

It is true that the timing of this article might not be the best. However, we here at Hotspur HQ are not fair-weather fans. We appreciate the club and the players in it- especially the ones who have shown to be difference-makers.

That is why Heung-Min Son needs to get more playing time. In match after match he has left his mark. We could even see this in the Arsenal game.

Son could just as easily scored a couple of goals. Tottenham as a team were on their heels from the beginning of the match. Son was the exception with both Spurs goals not being possible without him. In the first goal, he was fouled by Sokratis which led to a free kick that Dier scored. In the second goal, Son broke through the Arsenal defense and was given a penalty via Rob Holding’s reckless tackle. This was put in the net by Kane.

Son also almost got a few of his own with three shots, all of which were on-goal. He was relentless in his attack and if other Spurs were on his level they very well could have held the lead.

Pochettino has made it so that Son hasn’t gotten a consistent amount of playing time. This can make it hard for players to get in form. Still, Son has shown his skill in games- this was on full display in the Chelsea game with his flawless goal-scoring run.

It is true that Lucas Moura plays with an equal amount of energy. Even so, Son seems to be better at running right down the opposition’s throat and getting into dangerous territory. When he does get into these positions, he also seems to have a clearer head than Moura. This is what got Spurs their second goal on Sunday.

Of course, he showed this same energy- coupled with strong leadership- to get his nation gold in the Asian Games.

Since Poch has been trying to experiment lately- i.e. starting Foyth instead of Alderweireld- it would be good if he gave Son the start for a run of games. Right now is the best time to give it a go since Spurs have some easy upcoming matches. Then he could get into a rhythm and we can see if he could be yet another fixture of Tottenham’s world-class attack.
