Christian Eriksen returns to action for Spurs

Even though Tottenham didn’t come away with 3 points against PSV, it was nice to see Christian Eriksen back in uniform. Eriksen was a big part of his team’s attack and his return spells good things for the future.
Return of the Dane
Watching the PSV game, you can’t help but notice one thing about Tottenham- both goals were thanks to Christian Eriksen.
In the first, Eriksen was at the top of the box and kicked it out to Kieran Trippier. Trippier then got an assist off of Lucas Moura’s perfectly-placed shot. In the second goal, Eriksen got an assist after he crossed the ball to Harry Kane, who headed it in.
This shows exactly what has been missing from Tottenham’s attack. It is true that Spurs have been doing well in the Premier League. However, most of of their games are very low scoring. In 5 of their last 6 games, they have only scored one goal.
With Eriksen out, Spurs have had to rely on quick and gritty play right in front of the opposition’s goal. With him back, they can use the full width of the box and they have a higher quality attack. This is why Eriksen is receiving some major interest from the likes of Real Madrid.
Tottenham have skilled players that can get on the board- players like Kane, Moura, and Son. What has been missing is a crafty playmaker that can connect a fast counter attack with the finishing shot.
This is exactly what will be needed in the coming weeks. On Monday, Spurs face Manchester City. Next month, they will have a rematch against PSV, a derby with Chelsea, and a Champions League clash with Inter Milan. Tottenham need the quality Christian Eriksen provides on the offensive end.
Eriksen’s return is also good news as he is the first player to return from injury. Tottenham have a laundry list of players that are out but now they are coming back.
