Tottenham appear to have wrestled back control of the season following a slight dip in form.  In order to reclaim the season in January they should make two signings.

It’s hard for people to really conceptualize how difficult the beginning of the season has been for Tottenham Hotspur.  There has not been one outside factor that has played into the clubs hands in a positive manner.  If you count them it adds up to a laundry list of things that no club should have to deal with.

Now whether or not someone at the director level should pay for that is another argument for another day. But the lack of a stadium, the lack of signings, injuries, public embarrassment at stadium delays, playing every match as an away game and major players’ contractual disputes becoming public is one of the most ridiculous collections of problems any club outside Manchester United could have to deal with.

The good news is that by January supposedly, Tottenham’s new stadium will finally be open.  That is when Spurs will finally be playing downhill again and they should maximize it by making at least two star signings.  It’s sad that Tottenham are in this situation because they have so much going for them that no one else in the league does.  The fact that this much time has been wasted is truly a catastrophe.  Not even Liverpool or City have teams that play this level of football built with homegrown stars at the age that Spurs do.  It’s a marvelous thing.

In order to then reverse this waste Tottenham should make explosive work out of the January transfer window.  It makes no sense that the club continues to act as if they’re broke.  They’re one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and playing in the Champions League.

They should sign any two of Kasper Dolberg, Frenkie De Jong and Leon Bailey.  That would be a 100 million pound January but also a great way to open the new stadium.  It will shock the lax attitudes out of the rest of the squad, revitalize and apologize to the supporters who have deserved better and push the team in domestic competitions.

The squad is thin but also good enough that only excellent level talents will make them better.  Tottenham should make a major splash in January.  It’s the right move for the club, the support and the future.
