Tottenham Unbeaten when Dele scores in BPL: Part 6 Conclusions
By Aaron Coe
Beyond being a multi-dimensional scoring threat, Dele scores big goals that are often tide-turners in Tottenham games.
As I look back across this series and begin to reflect on Tottenham Hotspur’s unbeaten streak when Dele scores a goal, it is obvious, at least to me, that Dele is a catalyst in these games. With Tottenham winning at a rate of nearly 60% when Dele plays, that percentage goes up to over 80% when he scores . It is not just that Dele is scoring in these games, it is also how and when that impacts play.
Dele is a threat to score in any manner, and as previously documented, rates favorably in comparison to Harry Kane, in terms of how he is scoring, right-footed, left-footed, and with his head. With 10 opening goals during his time at Tottenham, 14 game winners, and 9 goals against the big six, Dele comes up big when Spurs most need it.
Beyond being a multi-dimensionally scoring threat, Dele scores big goals that are often tide-turners in Tottenham games. For example, there was a game tying goal in the 88th minute against Swansea on Matchday 31 of the 2016-17 season. Down 1-0 at the time, following Dele’s goal, Spurs put in 2 more and won 3-1. Then there was THAT goal against Crystal Palace on Matchday 23, which was not only a sublime goal, it was the game winner in the 84th minute and Spurs went on to score again and win 3-1.
With 18 first half and 20 second half goals, Dele is a threat to score at any time. His six first half injury-time goals, however, demonstrate his understanding of how to stick a knife in an opponent and score when it will hurt the most.
Conclusions
Bottom line, Dele is an integral part of the Tottenham squad and looking deeper into the scoring statistics that align with the Tottenham’s unbeaten streak, you begin to see why Spurs do not lost and are quite likely to win when Dele scores.
Dele’s big play ability and the relationship between Tottenham Hotspur success and his scoring, help to underscore why, according to he is the most valuable footballer in the world born in 1996, worth 100,000,000 pounds. Further Dele is valued only behind Harry Kane in both the Spurs and England set-up, as well as the 2nd most valuable attacking midfielder in the world behind Kevin De Bruyne.
In fact, according to Transfer Markt, Dele is the 11th most valuable player in the world, above Kukaku, Ronaldo, and Gareth Bale. As one begins to examine Dele’s goals and the impact of those goals on the success to Tottenham Hotspur, we can begin to see why.
