The Brazilian nabbed two goals to go along with an all-around great performance, as Spurs won in fashion away to United.

Having broken into the Tottenham XI the previous matchday against Fulham, Moura was once again handed another chance against Manchester United. The attacker made good on it, and was the key figure in the impressive 3-0 win.

Initially operating as a second striker alongside Harry Kane, Lucas was able to harass the United backline continuously. His pressure helped win back the ball in the final third, as Tottenham looked to counter against the opposition. Lucas also used his pace and athleticism to stretch the three center backs of United, allowing Dele and Kane to drift into position.

Lucas picked up his first goal of the game after another brutal Spurs counter-attack. Coming in from the right wing, Christian Eriksen squared a ball into the box, which Lucas latched onto and tucked home. With Harry Kane scoring only two minutes earlier, it capped a brilliant period of the game for Spurs.

Lucas sealed the deal in the 84′ with a dazzling run through midfield. Breaking forward towards United’s Chris Smalling, the Brazilian used his pace and ability to jet by. Lucas controlled the ball and then fired past David de Gea for 3-0.

Moura was named Man of the Match, his second consecutive honor.

The type of playstyle Lucas brings to the table is something that Tottenham have been missing in the team for years now. While some players like Erik Lamela can beat their man, he does not offer the pace of Lucas. Two matches in a row this has worked to Spurs’s advantage in breaking down a defense.

With Son Heung-Min away with South Korea at the Asian Games, Lucas’ rise could not have come at a better time. It was clear when he signed last January that the talent was there, but now with a full preseason at the club, Lucas is primed to have a major impact.

Lucas also brings a bit of flair to the team that is exciting to watch, a culture that has been building at Tottenham,. In a title race that will be an extreme challenge, some flair might be needed to take Spurs. to the top
