Tottenham were nearly flawless in their early season matchup against United at Old Trafford.

As a fan, it is difficult to find much fault in the result at Old Trafford, where Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United Monday evening 3-0. Spurs were clinical with limited opportunities and while the defense has been easier on the nerves than last night showed, a shutout at The Theater of Dreams is a great result. Here are a few things that caught my eye during the proceedings and stood out to me.

Big Observation

Lucas Moura is FAST. We sort of knew this, but so was Andros Townsend and he never really put it altogether for Spurs. Lucas reminds me of Townsend at times, but on his best day, Andros doesn’t have near the close control that Moura demonstrates, which may ultimately be second only to Dembele on the team.

Beyond his dribbling and running, his pressing was clearly un-nerving for the Man U back line. I don’t think this will be the last time I write about Lucas this year though, I’m expecting big things if his first three outings are any indicator. My colleague Barrett Rouen wrote a nice piece about how Lucas Moura fills the Tottenham summer transfer void I’d encourage you to check out for more on Lucas.
